Chapter 3 Michelle looked out and saw a sea of heads, flashing headbands and banners saying things like: Hit me Britney one more time, I love Nsync and Backstreet Boys rule! She took a deep breath, placed her trembling fingers onto the strings and started to play. She was doing an acoustic set on her guitar. She wanted to show the people out there that she was talented and she was more than a pretty face. She sang her debut single Runaway. She sang her heart out, she managed to shut out all the screaming and she imagined it was just her and her guitar in her bedroom. She sang in perfect pitch and was thoroughly enjoying herself. She did a mind-blowing performance and when she had finished she received a rapturous applause. She took a bow and thanked the crowd. She couldnt help but smile, a huge grin spread across her face. WOW what a buzz, she thought as she walked confidently off the stage.
She was so hyped she felt like screaming, she ran down the stairs to the back of the stage where all the dressing rooms were. She saw a blur of colors and sounds as she whizzed excitedly by. She wasnt really looking where she was going and the next minute she was on the floor, wondering what the hell had happened. Michelle shook her head and looked up, an apology on her lips. As she looked up a pair of baby blue eyes greeted her. She followed the eyes downwards and saw a perfect nose and totally kissable lips. As she took the face in she recognised who it was. Hes a Backstreet Boy, she thought, but she didnt know which one, she wasnt really a fan of pop. The words caught in her throat, her pulse raced and her heart started to beat faster. Oh my god hes stunning she thought.
"Are you OK?" Mr blue eyes said. He had the softest, sweetest voice shed ever heard.
"Erm...Erm..."
Speak you idiot; stop acting like an immature teenybopper fan!
"Im fine, Im sorry it was my fault I shouldnt have been running so fast." She finally managed.
"Its OK, Im sure I hurt you more than you hurt me, Im Nick Carter by the way"
He held out his hand for Michelle to shake, as she took it the hairs on the back of her neck stood up.
"Im Michelle Leddon"
"Nice to meet you Michelle" he said "sorry to run, but Ive gotta get on stage."
He flashed her his killer smile and walked off. Michelle sighed; she had already fallen for him but if she valued her career there was no way she could ever go out with him.

Nick wandered towards the backstage area, he had to give out the best hip-hop award. As he stood waiting to go on, he could hear the act on before him. It was a female singer, he had to admit she was very good, he recognised the song but wasnt sure of who the artist was, but he was very impressed. He heard the audience applauding and started to make his way up to the stage. He was just about to climb the stairs when a girl came shooting out of nowhere. He sidestepped trying to avoid her but he was too late and they collided. Feeling dazed, Nick got up and looked at the girl who had crossed his path. He was amazed by what he saw, for there in front of him was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. She stared at him apologetically; her brown eyes were spellbinding. He forced himself to speak, he asked her if she was OK, when she replied he recognised the voice as the one he had heard on stage minutes before. Wow, he thought, gorgeous and talented. Nick was content to stand and talk to her all night but he realised he should be on stage. He forced himself to say goodbye and flashed her his best smile. This day could finally be looking up, he thought as he heard the presenter announcing his name, he told himself he would make a big effort to get to know her, after all this could be just the girl he was looking for.
